X launches the Grok iPhone app in the US

xAI has released iOS app in the USA due to the Grok chatbot, as spotted earlier by TechCrunch. The standalone version of the chatbot, which xAI calls beta, can perform the same functions as the one built into X because it can provide real-time information, answer questions and generate images.

xAI began testing the standalone Grok iOS app in December in several countries. There is no word on when it may appear on Android.

While Grok was initially only available to X Premium subscribers, last month the platform began allowing all users access to the chatbot, bringing it in line with other free chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot.

As he noticed TechCrunchit looks like xAI is also working on a dedicated one Grok.com website that currently has a “coming soon” message. After raising $6 billion in June, xAI announced another $6 billion round of funding, including from “strategic investors” such as Nvidia and AMD.
