What happens when you give your life to an AI assistant?

Twins [archival audio]: : Key bodyweight exercises, squats, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, lower your hips as if you were sitting in a chair, keeping your back straight and chest up. Go as low as you can comfortably.

Michael Calore: Lunges on each leg, three sets of 10, plank, three sets of holding for 30 to 60 seconds, which is torture. Glute bridges, three sets of 15 repetitions. And then it talks about progressive overload and rest days and stuff like that, which is great. And then I thought, “Okay, I don’t know how to do a lunge. Can you show me how to do a lunge?” And it showed me some videos, five videos.

Lauren Goode: Probably YouTube?

Michael Calore: Yes, they were YouTube videos. Two of the links were exactly the same, but I watched all the videos and thought, “OK, I feel like I can make a go of it now.” I did a lunge and didn’t hurt myself, and I felt so I feel it’s pretty good.

Lauren Goode: It’s actually quite good.

Michael Calore: Yes. The only weird thing was that I searched Google and found the exact same information in several different places. Outside of the movie, I don’t know where Gemini got this information. I don’t even know where I got the recipes. All of this was simply presented to me as, “This is what Gemini says.”

Lauren Goode: No sources.

Michael Calore: No sources. I checked everything and didn’t see any good source.

Lauren Goode: And people probably created these exercise plans or wrote about these recipes. And it’s been published, which I’m sorry about, but your infinitesimal bits of data are now being chopped up and added to some recipe, and you have no idea where they’re coming from.

Michael Calore: Julienne.

Lauren Goode: Correct.

Zoë Schiffer: OK, so you’re going to stick with it? Do you intend to continue using it for this purpose, or did it feel like a one-off experiment?

Michael Calore: Honestly, the training plan is pretty solid. I will continue to do this.

Lauren Goode: Pretty.

Michael Calore: And when it comes to recipes, I have so many cookbooks and so many years of experience making my own food that I absolutely don’t need to make this quinoa salad again, Lauren, unless you want me to make it and give you some of it.

Lauren Goode: I’ve eaten other meals you’ve prepared and I think I’ll suggest them next time.

Zoë Schiffer: So diplomatically.

Michael Calore: Okay, great.

Lauren Goode: But thank you, I appreciate it.

Michael Calore: So I have to say that for me, a person who understands myself and my needs, it wasn’t much lend a hand. The training was nice. I could have found this without Gemini 2.O, but if anyone is up-to-date to this, or anyone has a lot of questions, or if anyone is considering making these types of lifestyle changes, he actually gave some pretty good advice.
