Up-to-date York wants subway cameras to predict “trouble” before that happens

Up-to-date York Metropolitan Transportation Authority claims that he is investigating the exploit of AI systems for “predictive prevention” of crimes and perilous behavior on the city metro platforms.

MTA security director Michael Kemper said that the agency “is studying and piloting technology, such as AI, to sense potential trouble or problematic behavior on our metro platforms.”

“If someone works, irrational … can potentially cause a warning that would cause a response from security and/or a police department,” he explained during MTA Security Committee meeting Monday, emphasizing that the police reaction may come “before waiting for something to happen”.

“AI is the future,” he added, noting that MTA “literally cooperates with technology companies” in order to examine “what would work in the subway system.” Kemper did not describe in detail which MTA companies are working with, how AI will be implemented, or exactly what behavior can be detected by AI-accumulating AI.

However, the spokesman for MTA Aaron Donovan confirmed Jagging that the up-to-date system will not be based on facial recognition. “MTA technology is aimed at identifying behavior, not people,” said Donovan.

This is not the first time MTA implemented artificial intelligence. In 2023, she revealed that he was using software for supervision -powered AI to track the tariff evaders on the subway, monitoring where, where and as most of the tariffs are hungry.
