Uber’s Drive to become kleenex robotaxia

“For them, it doesn’t matter who ultimately succeeds,” says AbuelSamid himself, who writes about the vehicle industry and is the Vice President of Marketing in Telemetry, Michigan’s research company. “If you have a car that works and can drive safely, you can come to Uber and provide rides.”

Still, it is too early to say if Kleenex Gambit will work.

A lot has changed since 2015. Kalanick is no longer in Uber, a company meant by a hostile management in 2017. The company meant a grim milestone in 2018, when one of its own vehicles driving independently hit and killed a woman. The incident for which the Federal Investigators later recognized the Ride-Hail giant as partly responsible, led to suspension and then reorganize Uber’s developmental efforts.

In 2020, Uber sold his autonomous vehicle unit to his competitor. In a sense, however, this existence of assets of assets-where Uber serves as an intermediary for drivers and riders, without having his own car (work)-he seems to work for the company. Under the leadership of Dara Khosrowshahi, the company finally recorded its first profit last year.

One of the potential problems for Uber is that his special role in the autonomous vehicle industry will not be very useful for a moment. Uber is powerful because it already applies to phones about 160 million vigorous monthly users around the world. The company is good in matching people to drive cars with millions of people who want rides. But there will probably not be millions of robotaxes for some time.

Waymo, US leader in robotaksis, has about 1,500 vehicles operating in five cities. Baidu says that his next city, Dubai, will have 100 robotaxia by the end of this year. “This is a market that will be limited for a long time, not limited demand,” says Len Sherman, a professor at Columbia Business School, who wrote about Uber. Independent car programmers want access to Uber-but because there are simply not so many self-propelled cars, the company is less useful in the near future.

This leads to another potential problem: Uber may have less power to get a immense part of each tariff in the world of Robotaxi. The company spent billions, wondering how much they need to pay individual drivers to take care of tariffs. Robotaxi Tech, who published their own billions on the construction of independent diving software, will probably take most of each tariff. After all, the company, including Tesla and Waymo, run their own driving applications. Do they really need Uber? “I guarantee that they will lead a more difficult opportunity,” says Sherman. (Uber spokesman did not provide financial details of his existing partnerships).

The Chinese competitor Uber Didi-which acquired the Chinese activity of Uber in 2016-he thinks that he will follow the venerable self-drawing Uber textbook. Has its own Autonomous vehicle technology A subsidiary that builds software for autonomous vehicles. This he said last year that it will operate with EV GAC Aion for mass production of robotaxia from this year.

It is possible that Uber did not completely close the door of having his own Robotaksi technology. Earlier this summer, The Recent York Times Reported that Kalanick returned and during talks about the acquisition of the American arm of the Chinese company AV Pony.Ai – with Uber’s financial assistance. Pony.ai spokesman refused to comment on the report. Uber told The Times that he plans to work with many AV players around the world. In other words, Kleenex strategy.

Of course, one company clearly disappeared in a high stack of Uber autonomy, of course. In a February interview, the general director of Uber, Khosrowshahi, he seemed to indicate that this is not a lack of attempts. It seems that Tesla wants to have all her car activities: technology, cars, maintenance and application that powers it-but Uber can still be a great partner of Robotaksi, said Khosrowshahi. “Ultimately, we hope that my charm and economic argument make Tesla also cooperate with us,” he said.
