The main publishers call the US government to “stop theft AI”

Hundreds of publishers, including The Modern York TimesIN The Washington PostIN The GuardianAND The Verge VOX Media parent company, they are Running an advertising campaign this week Calling the government to protect content against artificial intelligence. Campaign, Called AI responsible supportIt is run by the News/Media Alliance Media Association and consists of several ads that will appear in print and online.

Each advertisement has a phraseS “Keep Watch on Ai”, “Stop Ai Theft” and “Ai steals from you too”, while the text at the bottom is: “Theft is non -American. Tell Washington to pay large technologies for content.” The campaign appears only a few weeks after Openi and Google wrote letters to the government, calling it to enable them to allow them to train with copyright.

AD also contains a link and a QR code, which leads to the support of the responsible AI page, in which it encourages users to contact local representatives regarding the requirement that immense companies compensate for writers, artists and journalists. “At the moment, Big Tech and AI are using the content of publishers against them, taking it without authorization or compensation to supply AI products, which receive revenues from advertising and subscriptions from the original creators of this content,” Danielle Coffey, president and director of News/Media Alliance, said in a press release. “The media industry is not anti-a-many companies and creators use AI tools in its work. We are rather looking for a balanced ecosystem in which AI is being built responsibly.”

In February, the main British newspapers conducted a similar campaign. Many stuck their covers using the expression “make it fair” as part of an initiative that asked readers for lend a hand in protecting AI against training in the scope of copyright content. Some other publishers participating in the responsible support campaign include AtlanticIN Seattle TimesIN Tampa Bay TimesIN Wired Publisher of Condé Nast and Politico Owner Axel Springer.
