Aftermarket prices may drop further as Tesla now begins delivering… new model for $79,990 reservation holders. That doesn’t mean you need to make reservations anymore – Tesla’s North American stores are now accepting Cybertrucks orders for delivery two or three weeks later. “I call it: the original reservation list is basically ready,” the reservist said BayouCityBob at the Cybertruck Owners Forum last month. Tesla claimed to have used a bank over a million Cybertruck pre-launch reservations for $100.
“I thought I had to wait a while [years] before my time comes” MC1987 responded to BayouCityBob, citing his invitation to purchase a second Cybertruck (the consignor returned his first, top-of-the-line Cyberbeast due to alleged “build quality issues”). “This is so crazy,” they said.
Since most of the rest of the world has not yet imposed sanctions on Cybertruck sales, Tesla cannot boost demand outside North America. UK car deals website Carwow describes the Cybertruck as a “rolling axe,” a nod to the fact that the sharp-angled pickup is literally too piercing to meet stringent European pedestrian safety regulations.
Tesla also can’t rely on American consumers’ love of pickup trucks. “About 70 percent of all truck sales are truck sales,” Drury says. “This is not a coincidence [the Cybertruck]he revealed, using Edmunds trade data.
“Although the Cybertruck hasn’t been on the market very long, enough time has passed for us to be able to get some used ones. Since there is no indication that Cybertrucks are being replaced with trucks – which is what we usually see in America – so it is probably not a vehicle used for truck-like purposes,” says Drury.
While six Cybertruck recalls this year may not alarm “upset” consumers, the bad press that often results won’t impress Tesla shareholders – above-average recalls can tarnish a larger brand.
Any piercing boost in the number of car recalls should not necessarily worry consumers, as defects vary in severity and very few are orders to halt sales or require immediate discontinuation of a particular model. Automakers may not want to file them, but they are a reminder that the regulatory system is working as intended.
But with Musk advising the government – even if it’s at arm’s length – some regulators could have their wings clipped, perhaps even reducing the number of product recalls, potentially increasing the risk to consumers. However, not all Cybertruck owners will be too concerned about this.
