The confusing state of Apple Intelligence

The first pieces of Apple Intelligence are starting to appear on phones. iOS 18.1’s features are pretty straightforward: summarizing news, writing emails, and the like. However, Apple is already letting developers play around with iOS 18.2, which looks like a much more significant update. Meanwhile, the company is set to launch several modern Macs with an M4 processor and AI, and this week it launched the iPad Mini. There’s a lot going on at once and you have to understand it.

Then we move on to other news from the world of artificial intelligence. Anthropic has built a model that can utilize your computer for you, which is both frigid and scary, and is the main goal of virtually every AI company. Humane has lowered the price of AI Pin, is working on licensing its operating system to other companies, and has some crucial questions to ask. Perplexity is under fire over copyright issues. AI image watermark still not working. It’s all a lot.
