Snapchat AI turns your suggestions into a recent lens

Snapchat offered early look on an upcoming on-device AI model that can transform a user’s surroundings using augmented reality (AR). The recent model will ultimately allow creators to turn a text prompt into a custom lens, potentially opening the door to crazy looks that can be tried on and sent to friends.

You can see what this might look like in the GIF below, which shows how a person’s outfit and background changes in real time based on a “1950s sci-fi movie” prompt. Users will begin to see lenses using this recent model in the coming months, and makers may begin creating lenses using this model by the end of this year, According to TechCrunch.

Additionally, Snapchat is rolling out a suite of recent AI tools that can make it easier for creators to create custom augmented reality (AR) effects. Some of the tools are now available in the latest versions Lens Studio Update switch on new face effects that allow creators to write a prompt or upload an image to create a custom lens that completely transforms the user’s face.

The package also includes the function called Immersive ML, which applies “real-time transformation of the user’s face, body and surroundings.” Other AI tools available in Lens Studio enable lens makers to generate 3D assets from text or image prompts, create facial masks and textures, and create 3D character heads that mimic the user’s expression.
