While there’s been no shortage of leaks about the Pixel 9 phone over the past few days, a whole novel ad for the device has leaked at the same time — it shows off a novel feature that’ll make sure you don’t get left out of the group photo.
Feature apparently called ‘Add Me’ appears in leaked ad shared with Android Headers via OnLeaks. The ad shows someone using a Pixel 9 to take a photo of two friends in front of a van. After taking the photo, the photographer switches places with the two friends, allowing her to take a photo in front of the van — only the Pixel’s display shows a ghostly image of the two friends standing next to her. Her friend takes the photo, and boom, she appears in the photo as if she’d been there the whole time.
Judging by the UI in the ad, the Pixel 9 appears to be combining two images with the same background, allowing you to add someone to a group photo who wasn’t even there or who simply volunteered to take the photo. It looks pretty frigid, and I can’t wait to see it in action when Google debuts the Pixel 9 on August 13.
But “Add Me” once again blurs the line between what’s real and what’s not, like several other tools Google has made available to Pixel and Photos users. Last year, Google launched an AI-powered Magic Eraser that lets you instantly remove someone from a photo. It also introduced something called Best Take, which lets Pixel owners swap someone’s face (which was probably winking) for another recent shot.
