OpenAI is there cooperation with Futurepublisher Tom’s Guide, Computer gamer, TechRadar, Maria Clara, and many other websites and magazines. The deal will give ChatGPT users access to news and lifestyle content from over 200 Future media brands, while also displaying “attribution and links to full original articles.”
This adds to a string of content licensing agreements made by OpenAI in recent months. Apart from EdgeVox Media’s parent company, OpenAI, also struck deals Wall Street Journal owner of News Corp, People publisher Dotdash Meredith, Policy parent Axel Springer, Financial Times.AND Atlantic. However, some publishers, e.g Up-to-date York Times, Interceptionand group Canadian outlets including CBCsued OpenAI over allegations of copyright infringement.
OpenAI says the deal with Future is based on the company’s “existing deployment of OpenAI technology” as it has already launched AI chatbots within Tom’s equipment AND Who wears what. Future also plans to exploit OpenAI technology for sales, marketing and editorial purposes.
“This partnership enables us to enhance the ChatGPT experience by providing greater access to engaging, timely and trusted information from a range of specialist sources,” OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap said in the announcement. “Our goal is to help publishers and content creators take advantage of advanced AI technology and expand their reach.”
