Lenovo throws ideas on a wall with modern modular accessories for the magnetic Magic Bay connector from the Thinkbook 16p Gen 6 laptop. The company announced on the mobile world kongress four different additions to proof of concepts that can or never be released, and are as nippy as they are bizarre:
There are not many details about the concept, although the second display and double screen are the simplest. They are intended for people who want a mobile configuration of many monitors that do not require a secondary device for connecting or maintaining charging. The second display is like attaching an 8-inch iPad Mini to a laptop, with vertical orientation, which can be great for social channels and communication applications, such as Slack or Microsoft teams. It has a 60 Hz panel with dimensions of 1920 x 1200, which is a vast resolution for a miniature screen.
The concept of the double screen transfers Thinkbook 16p Gen 6 and turns it into a triple monitor configuration. Two connected displays are 13.3 inches with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 and a refreshing 120 Hz. They weigh 2.62 pounds / 1.2 kg, almost as hefty as wearing a 13-inch MacBook Air with a Thinkbook. I saw this configuration, and the second concept of displaying in an early personal preview, and although the finished laptop on demand seemed amazing, it seemed amazing, it was also a lot. The concept of the double screen was burdensome to set, fold and postpone. On the other hand, the second display was simple to operate and seemed obvious if it ever appears on the market.
As for a few concepts of Tiko, I haven’t seen them, but oh, boy if these different ideas have the same name. Lenovo does not yet have many details about the Tiko Pro horizontal attachment, but an additional display for widgets seems nippy. I bet its TelepromPter function would sell many units of this only function.
But Emoji Tiko’s friend looks like an absolute sorcerer. It is a round screen to display what Lenovo calls, “a compact companion of AI emotional interactions”, which “helps users be informed and involved throughout the day of work.” I mean Emoji and this is an emoji buddy, who you can attach to your laptop.
It looks similar to aptly named Ai Buddy Lenovo showed at his last world technology conference, which was designed for a desktop computer. Buddha was AI chatbot with voice support, which could also take action on your computer. Tiko Pro, at least based on the early Lenovo indications, seems to be a more carefree toy with which you can interact freely. For example, you can make a hand of your heart’s hand on it and he will react with hearts and you can put it in a charming cat housing – along with the tail!
I do not know why a business -oriented Thinkbook 16 Gen 6 is also a platform for the function of many monitor for advanced users and the digital equivalent of an emotional animal of support, but I am here independently. Let’s see if any of these concepts will survive the cutting floor.
