LobbyMatic says on its website that its AI-powered software can do anything — such as automatically monitor congressional hearings or “accelerate research” on legislative and regulatory matters.
Jumping on the AI hype wagon is a perfectly respectable career move. The problem is that sources have said Political that Wohl and Burkman run the company under the aliases “Jay Klein” and “Bill Sanders.”
LobbyMatic does not have any management listed on its official website. The company, called LobbyMatic, registered in Delaware, lists its registered agent as “A Registered Agent, Inc.” When contacted for comment, LobbyMatic sent an email Edge with a link to a video containing a man who looks like Jacob Wohl. In the video, he admits that “years ago I was involved in party politics.” Later in the video, he adds, “I don’t want my past in party politics half a decade ago to distract from a phenomenal product.”
At no point did the man directly identify himself as Wohl and did not respond to allegations that he was running the company under a false name.
Political‘s report is based mainly on four former employees who remain anonymous. His case can be summed up as follows:
When Edge we sent an email to LobbyMatic, we received a message containing only hyperlink to post on X by an account called @TheLobbyistGuy. The post reads, “Clarifying the Situation,” and includes a four-minute, forty-one-second video of a man who looks like Jacob Wohl. “There was a message that came out today that I wanted to respond to,” the man says. “It’s no secret that I was involved in partisan politics years ago. It’s certainly no secret in Washington, D.C. That was about a half-decade ago, I was a young man, and I’ve since redirected my energies in a new direction.”
He then proceeds to present his software.
