Google provides Chrome Gemini browser integration on iPhone and iPad

Share

As reported by the portal: Built-in Gemini AI functions in the Chrome browser are now more and more widely available in the iOS version of the Google browser 9to5Google AND Engadget. They come a few months after the feature began rolling out to the desktop version in September.

When the modern Gemini features are activated on iPhone or iPad, Chrome users will see a modern icon in the left corner of the address bar (where the Google Lens icon used to be), shaped like a notebook page with a Gemini star symbol in one corner. By clicking this modern icon, you can ask Gemini questions about what’s on your screen or view web page summaries.

The capabilities of this integration are still somewhat restricted compared to what you can get on the Gemini website or app (or other chatbot), but it can still be useful if you want to get a quick response without leaving the page you are on.

To test this feature, you’ll need to be signed in to Chrome on iOS. Gemini integration does not work in incognito mode and currently only supports English. If you still see the Google Lens icon in the address bar instead of the modern Gemini icon, try updating the Chrome app from the App Store and check again. If after this time you still don’t see the modern icon, you may have to wait a little longer – Google support page because the feature claims to be “rolling out to users over time” and is not yet available to everyone.
