Google is Launches New Productivity App Vids on Workspace Labs with the idea that “if you can make a slide, you can make a video with Vids.” Announced in April, Vids lets users place documents, slides, narrations, and videos on a timeline to create video presentations to share with colleagues. Releasing it in preview to Workspace Labs lets Workspace admins select users to try out the AI-powered video creator.
While you can generate video in Vids, it shouldn’t be confused with AI tools like OpenAI’s Sora, which can create realistic footage from prompts. Instead, Vids is all about generating a presentation by describing what you want Gemini to create, then letting you edit the video later.
You can also manually create a draft of your Google Vids presentation using one of the many templates available. There is also free stock content available to enhance your creation.
However, as video demonstration showsa key feature is using Gemini to automatically insert footage, generate a script, and even add AI voice-overs to your presentation, without you having to say a word.
