At this week’s Google Gadgets launch, it took almost half an hour for Google to actually talk about its recent gadgets. There’s a lot to be excited about with the recent Pixel 9 and Pixel Watch 3 lineup, but Google’s event made its true priorities clear. AI is more crucial to Google than Pixel, more crucial than Android, more crucial than anything else.
ON this episode Weather forecastwe talk about all of Google’s AI announcements and what they could mean for the way you exploit your devices in the future. Is this a paradigm shift? With so much attention being paid to the Pixel camera by Google, we also talk about the ongoing “what is a photo” apocalypse and whether what we’re capturing are even photos anymore.
Then Nilay tells us about his adventures as a TV Shootout judge, which included two days of squinting at incredibly impressive displays, trying to work out which one was really the best. He learned a lot about how to look at a screen, and about the latest TV technology, and he has a lot to pass on.
Then we get to some of this week’s regulatory news, as Apple continues to pick weird fights with developers and an Epic/Google judge continues to threaten to break up the company. It’s amazing how much the winds of Large Tech’s regulatory battle have changed, and it seems like the changes are only going to get faster from here.
