It is available for pre-order now for $1799 with $300 in store credit, and official sales will begin on September 4. Anyone who purchases the app will receive a year of free access to the Google One AI Premium plan.
Up-to-date AI Apps, Services and Features
Pixel phones are known for their tons of intelligent features, and with the latest phones come a few recent additions, as well as a few recent apps. There’s now a dedicated Pixel Weather app that uses the Gemini Nano’s enormous tongue model on the device to summarize the weather. Another recent app is Pixel Screenshots, a dedicated place where screenshots are stored, and because the Gemini Nano can understand the content of images, you can ask for information without having to hunt down the right screenshot. There’s also Pixel Studio, which lets you operate generative AI to create recent images, and you can even create stickers from your photos to insert.
When it comes to calls, there’s “Call Notes.” This lets you jot down details about a call on a sticky note. These can be things like phone numbers you gave during a call, repair quotes, or reminders to call someone back—the feature will capture anything noteworthy and put it in a note so you don’t have to fumble for a pen and paper. Google says the person on the other end is notified when the feature is dynamic due to call recording regulations.
Pixel phones are finally debuting Satellite SOS, a feature that came to the iPhone 14 in 2022, making them among the first Android phones with the feature. If you’re out of range of Wi-Fi or a cell tower, Pixel 9 devices will share your location and find your emergency contacts via satellite. But it’s not a get-out-of-jail-free card — it requires setup, an additional fee, and will only work in the United States for now. (Like Apple, it’ll be free for the first two years after activation.)

This year Pixel 3 Watch for the first time, you have a choice of sizes — it’s available in 41mm and 45mm body sizes, with the latter offering a 40 percent larger screen. Google says they feature the same “Actua” OLED display technology as Pixel phones and are twice as glowing, making them easier to read on radiant days. You can also turn the brightness down to 1 nit, so you don’t go blind just before bed.
