Openai re -updates Chatgpt’s “memory”.
IN Hangelog AND support pages On the OPENAI website on Thursday, the company quietly announced “memory with search”, a function that allows chatgpt to draw memories – details from previous conversations, such as favorite dishes – to inform about queries when Bot searches for a network.
The notes from the chatgpt version were updated yesterday at O3 and O4-Mini added to ChatgPT April 16, 2025-but interestingly, they also recall “memory with search” (someone has already implemented it? Not for me) pic.twitter.com/ovbcjnqf6z

The update appears shortly after the ChatgPT memory tool with OpenAi teeth with teeth, which can be referred to the entire history of the user’s chat. Seemingly, this is part of OpenAI’s continuous effort to distinguish chatgpt from competing chatbots such as Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini, the latter of which also offers a memory function.
As Openai explains in its documentation, when the search with the search is enabled, and the types of users in a poem that requires internet search, ChatGPT rewrites this poem in the search inquiry, which “can also use the relevant information from memories” to “make a better and more useful question”. For example, for the user that Chatgpt “knows” from memory is vegan and lives in San Francisco, ChatgPT can rewrite the “what restaurants close to me” as “good vegan restaurants, San Francisco”.
Search memory can be turned off by turning the memory in the ChatgPT settings menu. It is not clear which users still have – Some Accounts ON X The report began to see the memory of searching at the beginning of this week.
