ChatGPT is now available on Windows.
Today OpenAI announced that it has started preview dedicated Windows application for ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot platform.
The app is currently only available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise and Edu users. This is an early release, OpenAI says, and will arrive before the “full experience” later this year.
“With the official ChatGPT desktop app, you can chat about files and photos,” writes OpenAI. “This app delivers the latest improvements to the OpenAI model, including access to a preview of OpenAI o1, our newest and smartest model.”
The ChatGPT for Windows app can run on most Windows 10 computers, but currently has some limitations compared to other ChatGPT clients. It doesn’t yet support voice, including advanced voice mode, and some OpenAI GPT store integrations don’t work.
Like the ChatGPT app for macOS, the ChatGPT app for Windows allows you to minimize it to a compact “companion” window alongside other apps while you work. You can upload files and photos to it, summarize documents and create images using OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 image generator.
