Automotive Car, suppliers, semiconductor manufacturers and ecosystem partners have announced the creation OpenGMSL AssociationInitiative changing the future of communication in vehicles.
Consumers Requirements for automotive systems, such as advanced driver power steering systems (ADA), vice verses and autonomous driving are growing rapidly. The fresh group was supported by analog devices.
Adas is based on high quality video data for real-time decisions that raise security, while information and entertainment systems require quick communication in the case of engaging experience.
The goal is to transform the transmission of video data and/or quick data as an open, global standard in the automotive ecosystem.
Requirements of newfangled automotive systems – from Adas (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to entertainment and autonomous driving – they grow rapidly. VISION ADAS systems are largely relying
High -quality video data to make critical decisions in real time that improve the safety of the driver and reduce accidents.
Meanwhile, information and entertainment systems with a touch screen require rapid low-speed connectivity to ensure trouble-free, engaging users’ experiences. These factors raise the costs of developing fresh vehicles, complicating integration, suffocating innovations, and ultimately sluggish down safety progress.
Introduction of the OpenGMSL standard
Along with the launch of the OpenGMSL Association, participation in the global standard allows, among others, innovation in autonomous driving, adas and information and entertainment. Manufacturers of OEM manufacturers and suppliers can thus speed up the time to sell using solutions that work effectively together, reducing operating costs.
The OpenGMSL standard is based on the proven analog device gigabit multimedia series
Link technology (GMSL).
Paul Fernando, president of the OpenGMSL association, said in a statement: “With over a billion GMSL ICS sent and adopted by over 25 global OEM producers and 50 level 1 suppliers, GMSL is one of the most mature and justified video links in the automotive industry.”
Fernando added: “OpenGMSL is based on this strong foundation to speed up innovations among autonomous driving, ADA and new generation entertainment-larger ecosystem in an open, cooperating future.”
OpenGMSL Association is a non-profit subject with its own independent management and encourages global participation. Products developed using the standard will require mandatory compliance tests to ensure trouble -free multiplayer interoperability.
“As a leading supplier of precise detection, edge processing, software and reliable communication in the automotive industry, ADI is devoted to a better setting of our automotive OEM manufacturers to increase innovation for its clients, while alleviating the burden of complexity,” said Yasmine King, head of the car department in analogue devices. “We are incredibly proud of our GMSL -leading technology industry and willingly cooperates with our members of the Association at the industry standard, which will strengthen the entire ecosystem.”
