Apple CarPlay users may soon be able to talk to their favorite AI chatbot.
Apple is reportedly working on supporting AI chatbot applications within CarPlay, according to Bloombergwhich cites anonymous sources.
Apple CarPlay is an iPhone-based application that wirelessly communicates with your vehicle’s infotainment system. Displays some apps found on the user’s phone on the vehicle’s infotainment display. Drivers can interact with these apps, including Apple Music, news and navigation, through the Siri voice assistant.
Apple’s next-generation CarPlay Ultra goes a step further and includes a central touchscreen and digital dashboard positioned right in front of the driver, giving users control over certain vehicle settings.
This latest move would theoretically bring Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT into the car, at the risk of putting its own Siri assistant in the backseat.
