Apple is making executive changes to try to improve its artificial intelligence and Siri efforts. Kim Vorrath, who recently helped launch Vision Pro and has been with Apple for 36 years, has been moved to Apple’s artificial intelligence and machine learning division and will be “principal deputy” to AI chief John Giannandrea, Bloomberg reports.
By moving Vorrath, whose resume at Apple includes working on the original iPhone software group, to the artificial intelligence team, it appears that Apple wants to more rigorously advance artificial intelligence development within Apple. This also indicates that Apple may see artificial intelligence as a more vital issue for its future than Vision Pro.
Bloomberg also reports that “the AI group will focus this year on modernizing Siri’s core infrastructure and improving the company’s internal AI models,” according to Giannandrea’s note.
