Amazon’s Recent Alexa Voice Assistant Will Employ Claude’s Artificial Intelligence

The improved version of Alexa that Amazon is set to release this year will be based largely on Anthropic’s Claude AI model, According to Reuters AgencyThe publication reports that initial versions of Amazon’s smarter, subscription-based voice assistant, which used the company’s own artificial intelligence, proved inadequate, often struggling with words and responding to user commands.

The fresh Claude-based Alexa reportedly performs better than the version based on Amazon’s internal AI models.

“Amazon uses a variety of different technologies to power Alexa,” the company said. Reuters Agency“When it comes to machine learning models, we’re starting with those built by Amazon, but we’ve used and will continue to use a variety of models — including (Amazon AI’s) Titan model and future Amazon models, as well as those from partners — to create the best customer experiences.”

After delays to its launch, Remarkable Alexa is set to launch in mid-October. Expected features include AI-generated daily news summaries, a kid-focused chatbot and conversational shopping tools, according to report from The Washington Post earlier this week. Reuters Agency reported in June that Amazon was considering making the fresh Alexa available for a monthly subscription of $5 to $10 to make the assistant profitable, but intended to keep the current “Classic Alexa” offering as a free service.

A demo of the fresh Alexa app will reportedly be unveiled at Amazon’s annual devices and services event. Reuters Agencywhich usually takes place in September.
