Amazon’s fresh Fire tablets have artificial intelligence built into them

Amazon just announced new Fire HD 8 tabletand like many fresh gadgets in 2024, the most essential fresh features include AI-powered generative tools. But you don’t necessarily have to buy the fresh Fire HD 8 to try them out; Amazon says they will also appear on the Fire HD 10 and Fire Max 11 tablets.

The new AI tools these are things you’ve probably seen before. The device’s keyboard comes with a typing assist feature that will assist you improve your typing. You will be able to get web page summaries using the Amazon Silk Viewer. You will be able to create a wallpaper using the tooltip. Amazon says the tools will begin rolling out to “all compatible Fire tablets later this month.”

According to Amazon spokesperson Jackie Burke, the writing assistant and wallpaper creator will come to Fire Max 11 (2023), Fire HD 10 (2023) and Fire HD 8 (2022 and 2024). Website summaries will appear on Fire Max 11 (2023), Fire HD 10 (2019, 2021, 2023), and Fire HD 8 (2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024).

There are also rumors that Amazon will release an improved Alexa that you may have to pay for, but that wasn’t included in this announcement.

If you’re interested in the fresh Fire HD 8, it has some improved specs that appear to be carried over from the 2022 Fire 8 HD Plus, including 3GB of RAM (up from 2GB – the enhance could assist with fresh AI features) and 5MP rear camera (vs. 2MP). As with the previous Fire 8 HD, Amazon also promises up to 13 hours of battery life and offers 32GB or 64GB of storage (expandable via microSD card).

You can buy the fresh Fire 8 HD right now in black, emerald and hibiscus. Technically, the starting price for the tablets is $99.99, but they’re already on sale ahead of Amazon’s Prime Large Deal Days, which means the base model can be had for almost half off at $54.99.

Amazon may also soon launch updated Kindle e-book readers, as the Spanish retailer recently launched a fresh entry-level model with a brighter screen.
