Vultra gigantic, private cloud computing platform, announced today Athos Therapy, Inc. (“Athos”), a clinical-stage biotechnology company, has selected Vultr Cloud GPU to train, tune and infer artificial intelligence models. Powered by NVIDIA HGX H100 running on Dell Technologies’ PowerEdge XE9680 servers, Vultr now offers Athos the security and confidentiality it needs for its intellectual property, omics data* and proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms.

Athos, led by one of the founders of Kite Pharma, a medicinal chemist responsible for two multi-billion dollar FDA-approved drugs and discoverer of the drug target miR-124, currently in Phase III trial for IBD, Athos is a pioneer of artificial intelligence Precision compact molecule medicines on machine learning (AI) and machine learning (ML) for patients with immune-related diseases and cancer. Athos’ current goal is to unravel the complexity of the biology of autoimmune and cancer diseases by assessing diseases at the molecular level. To achieve this, the company partnered with world-leading hospitals across the country – including the Cleveland Clinic, Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, and the University of Ioannina School of Medicine – to perform multi-omics analysis on more than 25,000 patients. Athos also partnered with Caltech to perform spectrometry-based proteomics using cultured cells and biopsies from archived and deidentified patient samples.

To accelerate the development of precision therapies, Athos needed a cost-effective, elastic and proficient cloud infrastructure that could rapidly scale omics data and proprietary AI algorithms without compromising security and confidentiality. Training algorithms from public cloud providers became prohibitively steep and provided circumscribed engineering support. This led Athos to choose Vultr to provide reliable, secure and compliant access to NVIDIA GPUs for training AI algorithms. With Vultr, Athos’ fully autonomous AI analytics platform, featuring the Athos data lake and state-of-the-art, integrated deep machine learning engine, can seamlessly train huge data, with the assurance that all AI training data is bound by local data sovereignty and data storage and regulations regarding privacy.

By choosing the Vultr AI cloud platform, Athos can easily train, tune, monitor and manage a wide range of AI algorithms, as well as benefit from:

  • Scalable and elastic GPU resources in the cloud – adapt to growing data needs, remove the complexity of GPU management, and lower long-term AI infrastructure costs.
  • User-friendly interface – enable seamless interaction with Vultr compute resources, accelerate algorithm training, and eliminate the need for advanced technical GPU configuration or provisioning expertise.
  • Continuous monitoring and management – Optimize resources, boost equipment usefulness and boost efficiency.
  • Unrivaled security, confidentiality and data sovereignty – meet diverse global risk and compliance needs key to Athos data and proprietary AI algorithms.
  • 24/7 support – provide always-on disaster recovery, engineering support and maintenance, key to Athos omics data recovery and AI algorithm checkpoints in the event of hardware or software failure.

*Omics refers to a field of biology that focuses on the roles, relationships, and actions of the different types of molecules that make up the body’s cells. Omics encompasses various subdisciplines focusing on different aspects of biological functions, such as genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, lipidomics, glycomics, and phenomics.
