AGI is coming and no one cares

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been saying this for years – years! — that artificial general intelligence, or AGI, would be something of a singularity. Altman and others argue that achieving AGI will fundamentally transform society.

On Recent York Times At this week’s DealBook Summit in Recent York, Altman said it doesn’t matter. AGI will be coming soon, he said, but it won’t be a large deal. Also this week: OpenAI kicked off its “12 Days of Ships” campaign with a fresh $200 monthly subscription to its latest model. The stakes are lower, the prices are higher. Strange times in the AI ​​race.
