Google reveals artificial intelligence ‘reasoning’ model that ‘clearly shows its thoughts’

Google does introduced a new model of AI “reasoning”. can answer elaborate questions and at the same time provide a summary of his “thoughts”, as reported earlier TechCrunch. The model, called Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, is still in the experimental phase and will likely compete with OpenAI’s o1 inference model.

This isn’t necessarily “reasoning” in the way humans do it, but it means that the machine is breaking down instructions into smaller tasks that can produce better results.

Another example, published by Google product leader Logan Kilpatrickshows how model reasoning solves a problem involving both visual and textual elements. “This is just the first step in our reasoning,” says Kilpatrick. You can try Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking in Google AI Studio.

There have been quite a few significant updates in the AI space lately, with Google revealing an improved Gemini 2.0 model earlier this month as part of the company’s push towards “agentic” AI. Meanwhile, OpenAI has made the full version of its o1 reasoning model available to ChatGPT subscribers.
