ChatGPT’s AI search engine is rolling out to all users today. OpenAI announced the news as part of the ship’s latest 12-day livestream, while revealing an “optimized” version of the feature for mobile devices and the ability to search in advanced voice mode.
One of the mobile search improvements makes ChatGPT look more like a classic search engine. When searching for a specific location, such as restaurants or local attractions, ChatGPT will display a list of results with accompanying images, ratings and times. Clicking on a location will display additional information about that location. You can also view a map with driving directions directly in the app.
Another feature aims to speed up ChatGPT searches when searching for specific types of sites, such as “hotel booking sites.” Instead of immediately generating a response, ChatGPT will display links to websites before taking the time to provide additional information about each option. Additionally, ChatGPT can also automatically deliver up-to-date information from the Internet when using advanced voice mode, although it is only available to paid users.
