The heart hospital in Jakarta was the first in Indonesia to perform cardiac surgery using a robot

Harapan Kita National Cardiology Hospital in Jakarta probably performed the first cardiac surgery in Indonesia using robotic technology.

The heart hospital invited Indian company SS Innovations and its CEO and founder, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, to demonstrate its technology, first with a completely endoscopic coronary artery bypass. Other robotic surgery procedures have also been performed, such as internal mammary artery CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) and ASD (atrial septal defect) repair.

“We investigated the possibility of integrating robotic surgery with cardiac care at Harapan Kita Hospital and reviewed the surgical robotic systems available worldwide. We have discovered that SSi Mantra is the only system supporting the full spectrum of robotic cardiac surgery,” said the hospital director, Dr. Iwan Dakota, in a statement.

In June, SS Innovations received regulatory approval from the Indonesian Ministry of Health to launch its flagship robot-assisted surgery system.

South Korea is developing an electronic medical records system for closed health care facilities

The South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare has launched a pilot of a medical records storage system designed to address the closure or closure of medical facilities.

The electronic system enables patients of closed or discontinued health care facilities to access their medical records.

The pilot, conducted jointly with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, involves 12 public health centers using commercial EMR systems with the function of automatic transmission of medical records.

The amendment to the Medical Law in 2020 led to the creation of this system for storing medical records, which began in October 2023. The official launch of the system is planned for June next year.

Healthcare Global conducts genAI cancer research

HealthCare Global Enterprises, one of India’s largest cancer care networks, has partnered with Accenture to leverage modern major artificial intelligence for cancer research.

Their overall collaboration will operate artificial intelligence and deep learning to analyze cancer data and better understand different cancers, enabling precision medicine and contributing to the advancement of cancer treatment and care.

The specific goal of this partnership is to leverage Accenture’s generative artificial intelligence studies to discover and develop modern targets, mechanisms, pathways and biomarkers for anticancer drugs.

According to the media release, volOrganizations are currently prioritizing the identification of molecular signatures for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma and head and neck cancers.

“Given the heterogeneity of cancer genomics and other forms of omics, artificial intelligence has become integral to precision, personalized medical progress. AI-based innovations have activated known drugs for certain cancers, which was not the case before,” HCG Executive Chairman Dr. BS Ajaikumar commented.
