Microsoft Surface rumors point to a major Copilot Plus refresh next year

Share

Microsoft’s first Copilot AI-enabled Surface laptop launched earlier this year and now Windows HQ reports that the rest of the lineup is to be refreshed in 2025.

According to the report, we can expect modern Surface Pro and Surface Laptop computers – and a possible prototype appeared back in October – with Intel Lunar Lake chips, i.e. Copilot Plus computers with AI features, just like the current Snapdragon versions.

This would make them the first Intel-based Surface devices with the label after Microsoft did not extend the label and these features to the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. These machines were equipped with Intel Metor Lake chips with NPUs that did not meet the necessary requirements. rate. The modern Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are also expected to get an anti-reflective screen coating, while the Laptop version may get a card reader and 5G options.

The Surface Laptop Studio is also said to be upgraded from the model’s current 13th-generation Intel processors, which can exploit either Intel or AMD processors. Either way, hopefully it will have better battery life than we saw in our review of the current model. Meanwhile, Microsoft confirmed Windows HQ that the Surface Studio 2 Plus all-in-one is going out of production, which suggests there’s little chance of seeing a Copilot Plus version anytime soon.

Finally, there was information about a “new Surface device with a display of approximately 11 inches”, described by sources as a hybrid Surface Go and Laptop Go device with premium components powered by the Snapdragon X Plus chipset.
