Humane, maker of the not-so-good AI Pin, wants other companies to build AI devices and gadgets using its CosmOS operating system, and they did posted a video this seems to indicate that the company already has this solution in the car, TV, intelligent speaker and phone.
However, please note that the video, according to Humane’s fine print, is for “illustrative purposes only” – it shows “working prototypes” and some “simulated experiences” and the print states that all “designs, features and specifications” are subject to to change. So don’t take it completely at face value.
In one example, the video shows a person talking to CosmOS in his car (with the logo blurred on the steering wheel) to turn up the heat in his house and find out what time people will arrive. They ask their (blurred) knowledgeable speaker for the recipe for guacamole, and they ask their television set for the number of goals scored by the footballer on the screen. The video also shows CosmOS reading an email on a person’s phone and responding to whether the person can attend the meeting.
If you’ve been following the recent buzz around artificial intelligence, particularly around agents, none of these examples should seem particularly novel – Humane wants to demonstrate that CosmOS is capable of providing powerful agent-like capabilities, and companies should consider it as a possible framework for their devices. However, the items shown in this video are not Humane’s own products and Humane apparently does not promise that it will produce them. Creates an SDK so others can do this.
This CosmOS SDK is not yet publicly available – file company website it only says “coming soon”, but you can click a button to “sign up to build with us” which will take you to a form to fill out. Humane doesn’t mention any partners building CosmOS-based devices — the blurry logos on the car and intelligent speaker suggest the company may not have gotten that far yet. We asked Humane if it could share any examples.
