London Clinic and Northwestern Medicine are joining forces for a strategic international collaboration aimed at increasing both organizations’ commitment to improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
The London Clinic is one of the largest independent charities in the UK. Al Russell, CEO of London Clinic, called the partnership with the Chicago-based health system a “defining moment” in the independent hospital’s history.
“Not only have we found a partner who shares the same nonprofit values, but also one whose scale will give our charity access to the resources we need.”
While the clinic said it will leverage Northwestern’s innovations, technology expertise and research in health care to improve patient outcomes and expand its impact in the community, the nonprofit academic health system said it also seeks to build partnerships with other international healthcare organizations.
In addition to a shared commitment to expanding community reach and access to care, colleagues will combine clinical expertise to deliver better care through novel and advanced treatments and share best practices to optimize operational efficiency.

Northwestern Medicine has leveraged cutting-edge technologies to improve clinical decision-making and boost access to care.
Through a partnership with Dell’s Artificial Intelligence Innovation Lab and Dell Technologies, the healthcare system has helped develop artificial intelligence, which has improved medical practice by working to develop generative, multimodal, multilingual models that can be integrated into hospital workflows, such as like evaluating chest x-rays.
“When we think about what AI can do, we don’t just see the technology itself; we see it will have a positive impact on many patients and lives,” Dr. Mozziyar Etemadi, medical director of advanced technologies at Northwestern August, said in a statement.
