Waze is testing handy sounding update thanks to which you will be able to report road accidents, naturally speaking. With the recent feature, you can tap the report button in the app and then say what you see, such as: “It looks like there’s a traffic jam ahead of you.”
The Google-owned car app will then operate the Gemini AI model to “understand” what you say and create a report. If you submit a vague report, such as “Something is on the way,” Waze may ask additional questions, such as “Can you describe what you see?” Depending on your response, the app will operate this information to classify your report.
Currently, you can only report incidents in Waze by tapping an option in the app, which isn’t always convenient when driving. Waze will be rolling out beta voice reports to “trusted testers” on Android and iOS this week. It’s only available in English for now, but Waze plans to make it available to more users and languages in the “coming months.”
In addition to this update, Waze will also begin showing school zones around the world on the map later this year, alerting you to drive safer in these areas.
