Microsoft is launching a redesigned version of Copilot today that aims to become an AI assistant or companion. To celebrate, Microsoft’s up-to-date CEO of artificial intelligence, Mustafa Suleyman, wrote a more than 700-word memo on what he calls a “technology paradigm shift” toward artificial intelligence models that can understand what humans see and hear.

Suleyman joined Microsoft earlier this year as CEO of its up-to-date Microsoft AI division following the software giant’s hiring of several key Inflection AI employees. In June, Suleiman sparked controversy after brazenly stating that everything published on the Internet is “free software” that can be copied, reverse engineered and reproduced using artificial intelligence models. Now he’s positive that artificial intelligence, led by Microsoft, will create “a calmer, more helpful and supportive era of technology unlike anything we’ve seen before.”
