Google’s AI-powered chatbot for Gmail inbox now available on Android

Google recently made it possible to operate its Gemini AI chatbot to ask questions about your Gmail inbox on the web, and now the feature is rolling out on mobile devices. The company says that the Gmail Q&A feature is starting to roll out on Android and that the feature is coming to iOS “soon.”

Using the Questions & Answers feature in Gmail, “you can ask Gemini questions about your inbox or do things like search for specific details in your emails, view unread messages, view messages from a specific sender, or summarize emails on a specific topic in your inbox.” according to the Google blog post. Google presented a Q&A session on Gmail earlier this year at its I/O conference.

Gmail Q&A can be a potentially useful way to sift through your email or find something that might be buried deep in your inbox. Keep in mind, however, that this feature isn’t available to everyone: you’ll need to subscribe to Google One AI Premium or have a Google Workspace plan with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium.

Gmail Questions and Answers will be available starting Thursday. Google says it could take up to 15 days to roll out.
