AI audio startup ElevenLabs has just launched text to speech app available worldwide, offering support for 32 different languages – including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Mandarin and Hindi.
There’s a good selection of AI-generated voices available for the text-to-speech tool, including deceased stars like Judy Garland, James Dean and Burt Reynolds. The few I’ve listened to are impressive enough to not sound too mechanical. ElevenLabs has announced that their respective heirs were “excited to have their legacy live on” following the premiere, so these voices are likely licensed.
The reader app is free to download and exploit, and does not consume credits from the wider ElevenLabs Internet Subscription PlanThe company does, however, plan to “eventually launch some kind of premium version of the app,” but promises to provide a “generous free plan” when that happens.
