Boom™, a leader in knowledgeable integration and automation, has announced the results of its research Boomi Discovery Reportcommissioned by 451 Research. The report, based on the opinions of 650 business and IT leaders from a wide range of industries, shows how enterprises are using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to integrate systems and automate processes, and how this translates into improvements in their business operations.
Every business is grappling with increasing digital fragmentation—from app sprawl and disconnection across departments to rising costs and skills shortages. GenAI delivers on the promise of more effective, cost-effective operations and improved customer and employee experiences—but only for companies that embrace it.
According to the Boomi Discovery Report, organizations are seeing immediate impact from GenAI on integration. More than half of respondents (55%) said GenAI is very crucial for integrating data, applications, and processes. Additionally, global drivers of AI adoption included increased productivity (cited by 44% of executives), increased sales and revenue (40%), and improved customer experience (39%).
However, respondents acknowledged that integration often comes with complexity. Integrating data and systems can often be challenging, with concerns about security and privacy (42%), data quality and availability (42%), and model training, accuracy, and reliability (31%). According to the report, 90% of respondents agree that GenAI has the potential to improve the speed and quality of development and automate data, application, and process integration.
Other key findings from the report include:
- IT leaders have more confidence in GenAI than business leaders: CIOs are more trusted, with 82% of them “completely” or “somewhat” trusting GenAI’s results, compared with 63% of business CEOs.
- Accuracy and consistency are key factors influencing trust in GenAI: More than half of business leaders (57%) cited accuracy and quality of AI results as a factor of trust in AI. Slightly less than half (48%) cited consistency and reliability as a factor of trust in AI.
- Enterprise executives see tremendous value in GenAI: Leaders cited increased process accuracy and consistency (38%), cost reduction (38%), innovation and creativity (34%), streamlined operations (31%), resource optimization (28%) and gaining competitive advantage (27%) as the main potential benefits of using GenAI.
- GenAI is widely used in integrations: All respondents believe that virtually every type of integration would benefit from using GenAI-powered integration platforms.
