ChatGPT now allows free users to generate up to two images per day taken by DALL-E 3

OpenAI will allow users of the free version of ChatGPT to create up to two images per day using the DALL-E 3 model, the company announced on ThursdayWhen the company released DALL-E 3 in September, it was available first to users who paid for ChatGPT Plus.

One of the key improvements in DALL-E 3 is that ChatGPT can prompt you to create an image, which should make creating images easier. For example, as my former colleague Emilia David wrote last year:

In the demo version EdgeAditya Ramesh, the principal investigator and head of the DALL-E team, asked ChatGPT to facilitate him create a logo for a ramen restaurant in the mountains. ChatGPT then wrote a longer prompt, and DALL-E came up with four options.

OpenAI says the ability to create images with DALL-E 3 is “rolling out,” but you may already have access to it: while writing this article, I managed to create two images using the ChatGPT app on Mac before receiving a notification that I had reached my daily image creation limit.
