Adobe Brings More Generative AI Features to Illustrator and Photoshop

Adobe is rolling out fresh generative AI tools and features to its Illustrator and Photoshop design software that aim to accelerate inventive workflows. The most significant updates are coming to Illustrator with Adobe’s latest Firefly Vector AI model, available in public beta today.

Adobe’s latest Firefly Vector model supports fresh Illustrator features like Generative Shape Fill, which lets users add detailed vectors to shapes with descriptive text tooltips. The updated model also improves Text for the pattern a beta feature that can be used to create scalable, custom vector patterns, such as for wallpapers; and Style Reference, which generates results that reflect existing styles.

In addition to generative AI, this Illustrator update also introduces Dimensioning tool which automatically adds sizing information for designs, a Mockup feature to preview how designs will look on 3D products, and Retype to convert inert text on images into something you can edit. Photoshop also gets some gadgetsThe Generate Image feature, based on Adobe’s latest Firefly Image 3 model, is now generally available in Photoshop desktop and web applications, while the Enhance Detail feature for Generative Fill can now provide “greater sharpness and detail” when applied to huge images. The Selection Brush tool is also generally available, allowing users to more easily select and separate specific objects from the canvas by painting on them.
