What to expect at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in July

Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is brisk approaching, on July 10 at 9 a.m. ET in Paris, France. The company is not stingy with at least a few things it talks about — graphics in his video ad clearly hints at foldable devices, and the video description reads in part, “Galaxy AI is here.” You can watch the live stream on Youtube or its website.

The event will feature more than just foldable phones and reservation of devices before the announcement of the discount. Samsung regularly announces its Galaxy phones on its Other The Galaxy Unpacked event will take place early in the year, so we already know about that, but we may also hear about other things, including a fresh Samsung Watch product and, of course, the Galaxy Ring.

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring announcement in January was little more than a teaser, but the company gave reporters a chance to see a prototype at Mobile World Congress in February, revealing the colors and sizes of the rings and a bit of information about what kind of data its sensors will collect. We’d love to hear how much the device will cost, what health sensors it will have, and when it will launch.

For now, there are rumors floating around, like that it will cost around $300 or $350, and that Samsung might release a fitness and health subscription to tie it all together. But beyond that and the FCC test records that revealed the battery capacities, not much has come out of Samsung’s hallways about the Galaxy Ring.

Plenty of information about the foldable Galaxy Z has already leaked. The Z Fold 6 looks set to get an updated, more squared-off design, significantly brighter screens, and slightly longer battery life, though it uses the same 4,400mAh battery as its predecessor.

The clamshell Flip 6 could be less changed than the previous model, but it’s expected to see a few other key updates. In addition to a similar brightness boost to the Fold 6, the phone could get a much brighter screen like its bigger brother, along with a vapor chamber cooling system and either a 4,000mAh or 3,790mAh battery, depending on the rumor (the current model’s battery capacity is rated at 3,700mAh). The secondary screen could be an IPS panel instead of OLED.

Both phones are expected to be lighter, thinner, and equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Samsung has jumped on the AI bandwagon quickly, and at least some of its Galaxy AI features are available or coming to all sorts of Galaxy phones and devices — not just the latest and greatest. So far, Galaxy AI is full of AI-friendly features: things like on-device audio and text translation, in-call translation, photo and video editing, and Google’s Circle to Search feature. Now, the company has a chance to stand out a bit.

Samsung will likely talk about its next Galaxy Watch line. Leaked images suggest more of the same for the regular Watch 7, but the company is expected to announce a low-cost Galaxy Watch FE, as well as a hefty smartwatch offering, possibly called the Galaxy Watch 7 “Ultra.”

The Watch 7 Ultra looks like a bigger, badder watch with a squircle-shaped case — but still a round dial. The chunky watch seen in the leaked renders appears to be the company’s answer to the Apple Watch Ultra, so much so that the leaked images even show a third button that could be similar to Apple’s action button. It even appears to include Samsung’s interpretation of Apple’s proprietary watch strap connector — meaning you may not be able to employ your senior Galaxy Watch straps with it.

The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra isn’t the only thing that’s seemingly taking inspiration from Apple’s designs — the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3, based on leaks so far, basically look like Apple’s third-generation AirPods, but with angular stems instead of round ones and blue and orange accents on the ends. The “Pro” models look a bit different, with a matte gray finish. Someone on Reddit claimed to have already bought a pair of these for $250 at Walmart in the US, so it looks like they’re already in retail stores (and on some shelves, apparently).
