ChatGPT reaches 900 million weekly dynamic users, OpenAI announced Friday, putting the AI chatbot within the 1 billion mark. OpenAI also said it now has 50 million paying subscribers.
“Subscriber growth has picked up significantly at the beginning of the year, and January and February are likely to be the best months for new subscribers in our history,” the company wrote in a blog post. “People use ChatGPT to learn, write, plan, and build. As they scale their use, the product improves in ways that people feel immediately: faster responses, greater reliability, greater security, and more consistent performance.”
The recent number of weekly dynamic users represents an augment of 100 million users from the 800 million reported by OpenAI in October 2025.
OpenAI shared the recent numbers as part of its announcement that it had raised $110 billion in private funding, marking one of the largest rounds of private financing in history. The recent financing includes an investment worth $50 billion from Amazon and $30 billion each from Nvidia and SoftBank, at an initial valuation of $730 billion. The round remains open and the company expects that additional investors will join it.
