UK Prime Minister says ‘we will take action’ on Grok’s disgusting deepfakes

“It’s disgusting,” says Starmer during an interview with Greatest Hits Radio. “X is needed[s] gather your strength and collect this material. We will take action on this because it is simply unacceptable.”

Last month X started the function which allows people to utilize Grok to edit any image on the platform without permission. The rollout resulted in a flood of AI deepfakes undressing women and, in some cases, children. “We will not tolerate this,” adds Starmer. “I asked for all options to be considered.”

UK communications regulator Ofcom has launched an investigation into whether X breaches the country’s Internet Safety Act, which makes online platforms liable for hosting harmful content. Policy reported last week. “Based on their responses, we will conduct a rapid assessment to determine whether there are potential compliance issues requiring investigation,” an Ofcom spokesman said Policy then.

X said that “anyone who uses or encourages Grok to create illegal content will face the same consequences as those who upload illegal content.” X did not respond immediately Edgerequest for comment.
