Larian CEO says studio is not “reducing teams to replace them with AI”

We are constantly expanding our pool of concept artists, writers and storytellers, actively connecting set design rooms, conducting castings and recording actor performances, and employing translators.

Since concept art is clearly referenced – we have 23 concept artists and have job offers for more. These artists create concept art every day for conceptual and production purposes.

Everything we do is incremental and designed to get people to spend more time creating.

Any machine learning tool used well is an addition to a artistic team’s or individual’s workflow, not a replacement for their skills or craft.

We explore and understand cutting-edge machine learning as a toolkit that developers can exploit and see how it can make their everyday lives easier, allowing us to make better games.

We are not releasing a game with any AI components, nor do we intend to limit teams to replace them with AI.

While I understand this is an emotive topic, it is something we continually discuss internally with the goal of making every workday better, not worse.
