Another AI-powered wearable device is hitting the market. It’s not a pendant like Friend or a headband like Amazon’s Bee. This time it is a intelligent ring called Jet ring from the company Sandbar founded by former employees of the neural interface startup CTRL-Labs, which was acquired by Meta. Users can pre-order the Stream Ring now for $249 for silver or $299 for gold, and it’s expected to ship to the United States in summer 2026.
Stream Ring is designed to “capture thoughts in the moment” as a “self-development” tool, the company says. Users can “whisper in the crowd” and the ring will record and transcribe their notes or conversations. Based on these recordings, Stream will create notes in the included app, initially available on iOS. The recorder ring also doubles as a music controller, but the company doesn’t specify whether the product streams music or connects to music apps on the phone.
The product interacts with users “through thoughtful questions and intelligent answers” via a personalized AI chatbot. The “inner voice” is designed to sound like the user; relies on the user’s recorded voice during product setup. (If you want to hear about a wearable that has quite a forceful personality of its own, read on Edgereport on the Friend necklace by Victoria Song.)
Stream Ring photos show a sleek ring with an aluminum exterior and a black resin band inside, all of which the company says is waterproof. There is an oval button on a slightly raised platform outside the ring and diminutive holes on both sides.
Voice notes are captured when you press the microphone button. The company assures users that the microphone “does not always listen” and that data is encrypted. Other functions are controlled using capacitive touch sensors and touch elements. For example, tapping the ring once allows you to stop voice recording or start or pause music. Two taps skip to the next song, and a swipe gesture adjusts the volume.
The Stream Ring Charger is a diminutive, flat disc with a U-shaped handle that wraps around the side of the band. Battery life is rated as “all day”. Although the Stream Ring can be paired with headphones via Bluetooth, headphones are not required to utilize the product.
The free version of Stream has unlimited notes and chats. The Pro version unlocks unlimited interactions and early features. Users who pre-order the product will receive a three-month pro subscription, which they can later extend for $10 per month.
