Pinterest’s “tuner” allows you to reduce the amount of AI content – but not completely

Pinterest is growing tool which allows users to “turn off artificial intelligence” in their feed, the company says. Users can select categories that they want to fill with content generated to a greater or lesser extent by artificial intelligence. However, Pinterest doesn’t promise a completely AI-free feed: the tool will only work for “eligible image Pins” in categories susceptible to AI content, including beauty, art, fashion and home decor.

The “tuner” tool is located on the Pinterest Settings page in the “refine your recommendations” section under the “GenAI Interests” tab. The feature is available now for Android and desktop users, and iPhone users will get it in the coming weeks, the company says.

Pinterest was the first to address its AI infection problem – Pinfestation? — in May with the introduction of an automatic “AI Modified” label added to the lower left corner of pins. The company says it has improved its detection tools and is making labels more “noticeable,” but did not reveal details about any update.
