But Shein did not stop marketing. Instead, both companies decided to transfer their advertising budgets abroad to regions in which geopolitical risk was seen as lower and more plentiful growth. According to Sensor Tower, Shein spent 22 percent of general advertising expenses on the American market, compared to 39 percent in the first three months of 2025. Meanwhile, only 9 percent seemed in the USA in the US. As a result, sales of Shein and that in countries other than the USA, such as Great Britain, increased Record ups.
But the dip does not last long. After reaching Rock Bottom in June, both companies began to develop advertising expenditure in the USA in July, show Shaha data. In August, Shein spent more on marketing in the US than in August 2024.
The numbers reflect the fact that Chinese platforms came up with a up-to-date textbook: Continue shipping products Despite the tariffs, he provides consumers with some costs and remain competitive, focusing on building independent supply chains and storage networks that can aid reduce shipping costs.
The App Store charts suggest that the up-to-date strategy is working. After a low popularity at the beginning of this year, Shein and this again found themselves as part of the 5 best applications in the shopping category of the American Apple App Store and Google Play Store from Wednesday.
He and Shein did not immediately respond to requests for a comment from Wired.
Behind the curve
Gigantic Chinese platforms have been prepared for the end of de minimis for over a year and were able to quickly re -calibrate logistics strategies when the tariffs finally entered into force. The same cannot be said about independent stores.
Denys, the Ukrainian owner of the Etsy store, says that he expects you to augment the price of your products to stay on the surface. “If new tariffs remain, prices will inevitably rise by at least about 10 percent in the future,” he says.
Recently, he began working with a local Ukrainian shipping company called Novapost, which entered to aid sellers move in customs procedures and committed to sight of increases in fees for local companies. The situation in Ukraine is much less confused than in other parts of the world, where many postal companies have completely stopped sending packages to the USA due to constant confusion regarding the details of Trump’s commercial policy.
I think we all exploit the possibility of buying from diminutive suppliers around the world. Over the past few years I have bought a topographic map with 3D print from Canada, artistic graphics from Germany and Denys woodwork from Ukraine. I did not go shopping from foreign brands, but up-to-date global E -commerce platforms gave me access to a wider range of products, which were often sold at lower prices than goods in nearby retail stores. Lack of study, Etsy Shop Denys in Ukraine is probably the best option to get an inexpensive adapted joinery to my house in Recent York.
But with the end of de minimis, many Americans can decide to buy craft goods and other insignificant items from abroad. If this happens, sellers will be the most tough. “This mainly affects the purchase of an impulse, and then things we don’t need,” said Juzas Kaziukėnas, analyst of the E -commerce platform, Boone Ashworth. “For example, this does not affect the price of milk.”
I am still waiting for my wooden letters, which according to Denys should finally pristine customs soon. I hope that companies like him are able to survive in this up-to-date ecosystem. Otherwise, I would not have a choice how to take part in carpentry, but who knows how much I will have to pay with tariffs for my up-to-date woodworking tools?
