Microsoft is starting to test the novel experimental Copilot mode in the Edge browser today. The artificial intelligence mode allows Copilot to search for all open bookmarks and support tasks such as restaurant booking, and introduces Chatbot Copilot to the novel page of the card.
Copilot mode is somewhere between the narrow integration of Gemini, which Google is testing in Chrome and the AI powered renovation, which offers Comet thanks to the AI browser. You can allow Copilot to see all the open bookmarks so that you can ask for a comparison of several hotels that you can look at or aid sum you the best purchase from many product cards.
Copilot in Edge also supports voice navigation to locate information on the website or open cards with products to compare. Microsoft also plans to allow Copilot, with consent, access to the history and certificates of Edge browser so that Chatbot can reserve reservations on your behalf.
These novel Copilot functions in Edge are based on the existing integration of the AI Microsoft assistant in his browser and work, which the company performs with Copilot Vision. “Copilot will soon be able to lead you in tasks and organize browsing-overdue and present-helpful, based on the subject of travel” says Sean LyndersayMicrosoft Edge Vice President of the Product.
For those who are not interested in this AI driving mode in Edge, Microsoft claims that it will be optional and you will be able to turn it off. “In Copilota mode, you can also choose to turn on and disable impressions as your edge settings pass,” says Lyndersay. “If you decide not to turn on the Copilot mode, you can continue browsing on the edge as usual.”
Microsoft calls Copilot mode a “experimental” function that will evolve with time. It is also “free for a limited time”, with limits to the operate of some Copilot functions. This suggests that Microsoft ultimately connects this novel mode with some subscription.
