Apple and OpenAI strike a deal

So Apple supposedly doesn’t pay OpenAI to handle its users’ ChatGPT queries, and OpenAI doesn’t pay Apple for mass distribution. (Billion pockets, y’all!) If so, what do these two companies gain from their blockbuster iOS and AI partnership? Can OpenAI and Apple really afford this, economically and reputationally? It’s a strange combination, but it will appear on your device in the fall.
