Apple is preparing to unveil a up-to-date artificial intelligence system for iPhone, iPad and Mac next week at WWDC 2024 – and according to an analyst, it will be called Apple Intelligence. report from Bloomberg. In addition to bringing up-to-date “beta” AI features to Apple’s platforms and apps, it will reportedly offer access to a up-to-date ChatGPT-like chatbot powered by OpenAI.
Apple will reportedly not focus on busy AI features like image or video generation, instead focusing on adding AI-powered summaries, answer suggestions and an AI overhaul for Siri that could give it more control over apps when searching applications with “broad appeal.”
According to Apple, it will operate “proprietary OpenAI technology and tools” to support up-to-date AI features Bloomberg. According to reports, the company will operate an algorithm to determine whether it can process a specific task on the device or whether it will need to query a cloud server. Previous reports have indicated that Apple could focus on using its own M2 chips in secure enclave data centers to ensure that data processed remotely is as secure as it is on the device.
To address other potential security issues, Bloomberg claims that Apple will not create profiles based on users’ data and will also create reports showing that their information is not being sold or read. Microsoft recently revealed plans for AI-powered Copilot Plus computers, including locally stored screenshots for a searchable restore feature, but was met with major backlash, with one researcher calling the feature a “disaster” for security reasons.
Bloomberg reports that iPad or Mac users will need devices with an M1 chip or newer, while mobile requirements may be restricted to the iPhone 15 Pro or one of the iPhone 16s, which will debut this fall. As reported BloombergApple will not force users to operate the up-to-date AI features and will allow them to be used.
