Wyze cameras will operate artificial intelligence to describe what they see

Share

Wyze’s latest AI feature aims to reduce the frequency of manually checking surveillance footage, instead simply describing what the camera saw. According to Wyze, the modern descriptive alerts will send notifications that “accurately summarize motion events” and will include more contextual details than simply telling users that a camera has detected motion or an object.

An example alert provided by the company is “a delivery man in a blue hat leaves a package at the door and then leaves. A green SUV is parked on the street. Rival sharp home security companies like Ring, Google’s Nest, and (to some extent) Arlo provide similar AI summary features for their own cameras, but Wyze’s video-to-text alerts appear to be the only service that spells out the details in the descriptions , such as color .

Wyze descriptive alerts are available for Cam Unlimited Pro members — a modern subscription for $19.99 per month (or $199.99 per year) that includes other features such as facial recognition, searching for videos using descriptive keywords, and viewing live feeds from multiple Wyze cameras simultaneously. The Cam Unlimited Pro subscription will also include 60 days of cloud storage, though Wyze says this won’t be available until “spring 2025.”
